Link to the public docs.python.org usage statistics from the “Python documentation” section of “Helping with documentation”. Use the current PSF-hosted Plausible dashboard; the URL in the issue now returns HTTP 404.

Closes #1479.

Related: #1496 remains open. This change follows the feedback there to place the link on an existing page.

Validation:

  • Markup check (./make.ps1 check) and pre-commit checks for the changed file passed.
  • git diff --check passed.
  • HTML generation succeeded with an existing unresolved-reference warning at getting-started/pull-request-lifecycle.rst:308. A strict build reproduced the same warning in a clean baseline.
  • The added URL returned HTTP 200 and passed Sphinx linkcheck. Full linkcheck runs found unrelated existing failures and were stopped after persistent external rate limiting.

The Tests job timed out while retrying an existing web.archive.org link. The documentation build succeeded, and the added analytics URL passed linkcheck. Could a maintainer rerun the cancelled job when convenient?

Sorry, but I don't think this is the place for this. To me, this does not really seem like something that is really necessary for 'Helping with documentation', and it certainly shouldn't be above the Discourse, which is a far more important resource.

Thanks for the feedback. I've moved the analytics link below the Discourse and mailing-list resources in 04bb053. I chose this page to keep the link on an existing page, following the discussion in #1496. Do you recommend a different existing page for it?
